Slope RetentionHaving designed more than one million square feet of retaining walls throughout the western United States, SAGE is a recognized leader in earth retaining system design. From initial site characterization to completion of 100% Plans, Specifications and Estimates, our full service staff has the knowledge and experience to design practical and cost effective solutions for the most challenging of slope conditions. Our strong geotechnical and structural design background gives us a valuable understanding of soil-structure interaction, manifesting in more practical and efficient designs for our clients. In addition to our technical design expertise, our professional staff understands practical construction issues and works closely with contractors and owners to provide a smooth transition from design to construction.
We design a wide variety of slope retention systems to accommodate varied soil and rock conditions, height requirements, budget restrictions, and aesthetics. Common retaining wall systems designed by SAGE include soil nail, tieback, masonry, rockery, cast-in-place concrete, soldier piles with lagging, and MSE.
In addition to traditional retaining walls and slope stabilization, SAGE has designed more than 200,000 square feet of bluff protection in California using soil nail, mechanically stabilized earth (MSE), gravity, and hybrid structures. Our staff works with local, state, and federal agencies to address serviceability and environmental issues, and to develop practical solutions that are sensitive to community concerns.
SAGE also provides engineering design services for temporary and permanent shoring systems in deep excavations. We provide efficient and practical project-specific solutions for variable soil, groundwater, and loading conditions. We are experienced with sheet piling, secant piles, soil nails, soldier piles, and soil-cement mixing.
